Arizona State University (ASU) is a private metropolitan research university founded in 1885. It is commonly referred to as ASU or Arizona State. ASU is the largest public university by enrollment in the United States. It was founded as a Territorial School of Tempe in 1885. Later on in 1995 it was placed under the direction of the Arizona Board of Regents and renamed Arizona State College. Arizona State University receives accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of schools and colleges. It was classified as a Research I Institution in 1994 and became the newest major research university in the nation.


Arizona State University has one of the largest undergraduate populations in the United States. It has a total undergraduate enrollment of 38,735. It's setting is urban and the campus size is spread in 630 acres. It utilizes a semester-based academic calendar. ASU was ranked as a Best College is National Universities in the 2015 edition of Best Colleges. Its in-state and out-of-state tuition and fees are $9,811 (2014-2015) and $23,312 (2014-2015) respectively.

ASU has been ranked among the top universities since 2005. The Carnegie Classification of Higher Education has classified ASU as a research university with a very high activity (RV/VH). ASU has been ranked among the top research universities (public and private), in the U.S based on research output innovation, development research expenditures, number of awarded patents and awarded research grant proposals.

Arizona State University offers bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees through 16 colleges and schools across all its campuses. ASU offers 47 bachelor's degree programs fully online and more than 80 programs when specializations and non-bachelor's level programs are included. Degree offerings are comprehensive, ranging from arts, business, communication, culture, education, engineering, health, language, to STEM.

Arizona State University provides graduate programs through school including the Iva A. Fulton School of Engineering, the Sandra Day o' Corner College of Law, the W.P. Carey School of Business, and the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers college.

LIBRARIES
The online students have access to a huge library of e-books and journals, as well as many other resources to help then to complete their education. ASU's faculty and students are served by two dedicated general-topic libraries: Hayden Library and Fletcher Library. Hayden Library is the largest library of ASU and is located in Tempe Campus, and Fletcher Library is located on the west campus. Moreover Ross-Blakley Law Library and the Nobel Science Library are housed in dedicated facilities on the Tempe campus. Smaller library facilities are also located on the Polytechnic and Downtown campuses.
